*Product Release* AMS Nissan GTR R-35 90mm Race Exhaust

AMS Nissan GT-R 90mm Race Exhaust

AMS Nissan GT-R R35 90mm Race Exhaust

The AMS Nissan GT-R 90mm Race Exhaust is one of the most free-flowing performance-based exhausts on the market. Through our many years of experience in the design of aftermarket turbo exhaust systems, we noted that a higher level of performance could be achieved with improved routing and increased tube diameter over the existing stock GT-R exhaust design. While the stock and many other popular exhaust systems on the market feature intricate bends that would impede upon efficient exhaust flow, AMS decided to develop a system that would incorporate mild bends and deliver exhaust gases from midpipe to tip in the most direct way possible without sacrificing fitment. This, coupled with a large 90mm primary pipe that gently flares into two 76mm secondary pipes made it possible to further reduce undesired backpressure and turbulence. To cap it off, four polished OEM-style tips were chosen to continue our overall goal in the AMS GT-R engineering project – which was to retain as much OEM-styling as possible in order to build some extremely potent stock-appearing GT-R’S.

30 Victories, 4 Seasons, 1 AMS Engine!

30th Victory for AMS TA1, points leader in the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship Series

The second round of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship was held at the Bushy Park circuit in Barbados on August 30th 2009. David had won the previous three races of round 1 at his home track of Dover Raceway in Jamaica but was not the favorite to win in Barbados. Locals Mark Maloney with a RX3, Stuart Maloney in an EVO 5 and Roger Myers in a Ex WRC Ford Focus, who holds the track record at Bushy, were the crowd favorites for sure. Read more…

The AMS sponsored GT-R breaks the pump gas ¼ mile record with minimal modifications!

AMS has been working hard over the past few months developing products for the new Nissan GT-R. We were fortunate enough to have one of our close friends the Lipani’s (Frank and Mike) let us tear into their Japanese supercar to make it even better…and that we did! With only minimal modifications on 93 octane pump gas and stock run flat tires Mike and AMS GT-R were able to break the pump gas quarter mile record running a 10.69 @ 132!!!. What is most impressive about this time is the short list of modifications used to achieve it. To the naked eye the AMS GT-R looks stock. To those in the know it is cranking out over 600 all wheel horsepower and over 585 ft lbs of torque…all with just the following modifications:

AMS Turbo upgrade
AMS Downpipes
AMS Midpipe and prototype Catback Exhaust
Deatschwerks 800cc injectors
HKS EVC boost controller
AMS/Forged Performance tune using the Cobb Access port.
Willall transmission cooler
STOCK run flat tires

With just those modifications we were able to run consistent 10 second passes on just pump gas in the AMS GT-R…all with only a 1.8 60 foot time on the stock run flat tires!!!!!
Look for the AMS GT-R to try and better its time by throwing on a set of lightweight 18″ wheels and some drag radials in the very near future!!

Special thanks to Gleason for some great video and editing work!

AMS Releases AMS 750R Turbo Kit!

AMS is proud to release the AMS  750R Turbo Kit!

The AMS 750R Turbo is a GT30R variant capable of making 100whp more than a typical GT30R. We have seen as much as 500 wheel horsepower on 93 octane pump gas and over 580 wheel horsepower on race gas with this turbo!

The greatest attribute of the AMS 750R is that spool is only about 100-200rpm later than a GT30R turbo! This is the perfect set up for those of you who want to have a great spooling street set up that can still put massive amounts of power to the ground when the boost is turned up. This is the same turbo that we are running on our Time Attack Evo X!

The AMS 750R is true dual ball bearing center section with a modified billet compressor wheel. This wheel has been designed to offer better flow rates due to the improved aerodynamics, as well as offer great spool rates by having a lighter billet aluminum compressor wheel.

The AMS 750R turbo kit maintains the sames quality standards that we apply to all of our current AMS turbo kits. You can view all or our other turbo kits here www.amsperformance.com

AMS Performance / NOS Energy Drink TA-X debuts with a podium finish!

AMS Performance / NOS Energy Drink TA-X debuts with a podium finish!

This past weekend marked the first ever Redline Time Attack at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. It was also to be the debut for the AMS Performance / NOS Energy Drink Time Attack Mitsubishi EVO X (TA-X). Just days prior TA-X was in pieces and in its final stage of assembly. The team was able to come together and get the car up and running for the weekend’s events.

Saturday’s testing went very well with the AMS /NOS EVO X getting quicker and quicker. Some new car bugs prevented the AMS team from running the car at peak power. The team was only able to compete at the 450 wheel horsepower level, down from the 600whp level they had hoped to compete at. Each session brought about a new series of changes and tweaks to help improve the car. AMS driver Mark Daddio worked his magic with the underpowered car as each practice session the AMS/NOS Energy drink car got quicker and quicker.

This event brought out some stiff competition but early on Saturday it became clear that the Crawford Performance STI driven by Tarzan Yamada was the car to beat. With 580 wheel horsepower and in its second year of competition was running very quick laps all day. TA-X and the Crawford STI exchanged fastest lap times Saturday leaving Sunday open to either team.

Sunday started out with the TA-X setting the fastest lap of the event thus far in their first practice session. Rain was imminent as the radar showed a storm cell moving towards the track. As the first competition session kicked off once again it was AMS and Crawford within a couple of tenths of a second with the Crawford car edging them out. It would come down to the last session…so long as the weather would hold out AMS had a chance to take TA-X out for one last chance.

Down on power AMS brought TA-X out for its last session of the day with only minutes before the approaching storm rolled in. In exciting fashion both AMS and Crawford once again reset each other’s best lap time with Crawford edging TA-X out on its first lap. It all came down to the last lap. With a blistering first section as Mark Daddio rolling into turn four tragedy struck as the shifter cable on TA-X snapped…ending their session and the day.

In only its first competition the AMS/ NOS Energy Drink Time Attack EVO X was able to take a podium finish. TA-X claimed second place in the unlimited AWD class and second fastest overall lap of the day. What is even more impressive is that it was achieved without the additional 150 wheel horsepower the car will have later on in the season.
After TA-X’s appearance at the Mitsubishi Owner’s Day in Cypress, Ca July 11th, the next race will be July 25/26 at the Redline Time Attack in Nashville, TN. With what was learned over this past weekend AMS hopes to improve TA-X by restoring its horsepower level back to 600, adding more aero and more importantly even more testing time. The AMS / NOS Energy Drink Time Attack car should be back stronger than ever.

AMS would like to take time out to thank our generous sponsors whom without their support TA-X would not be possible:
